I am from Laredo, Texas and I am a recent graduate from the University of Texas at San Antonio with my master’s degree in mathematics education. I am the oldest child and the first in my family to graduate from college. An achievement that I treasure is when I presented my thesis research at the Society for the Advancement of Chicanos/ Hispanics and Native Americans in Science (SACNAS), since it opened my eyes of how passionate I am in math education and that I should aim for the stars. Lastly, math education has a variety of research topics, but the ones that interest me the most are tackling calculus topics and students' motivation.

I enjoy math because it is its own language. While English was not my first language, I struggled with many subjects but not mathematics. Mathematics not only has its own notations, but can be expressed in more than one way. Math helped me find my passion and determination to go the long distance no matter how difficult the road was.
