Michael earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics with a secondary teaching certification from Texas State University, and a Master of Education degree in Mathematics from Texas State University. He spent three summers being a Mathematics Teacher for the Upward Bound program at Texas State University before pursuing his Ph.D. Since Fall 2016, he has been a Ph.D. student at Texas State University studying Mathematics Education. His research interested are in equity issues.

I enjoy mathematics because it is like a game of chess where each move made in solving a problem or proof requires thinking a few steps ahead while also keeping in mind how each move forward limits or expands the possibilities of the next move to reach the goal.
