The National Association of Mathematicians, Inc. (NAM) was founded in 1969 as a non-profit professional organization in the Mathematical Sciences. The main objectives of NAM are: to promote excellence in the mathematical sciences and to promote the mathematical development of under-represented American-Minorities.
To achieve these objectives, NAM conducts, supports, and/or sponsors several activities on a regular basis, including an annual national meeting, an annual Regional Faculty Conference on Research and Teaching Excellence, an annual Undergraduate MATHFest Conference and publishes a quarterly Newsletter.
The San Marcos River is a spring-fed waterway that flows through the heart of San Marcos--both literally and figuratively. People can kayak, snorkel, swim, and float on inner tubes in the 72-degree water. Or they can relax in the parks that straddle the river, watching the tubers float by.
San Marcos is prime shopping country. Our historic downtown offers unique local shops for people who want to walk and shop, and the outlet malls on IH-35 attract bargain hunters from all over North America. The rich cultural heritage of San Marcos is a treasure of the Hill Country and is expressed in our museums, architecture, and festivals. San Marcos boasts more than 1,700 acres of parks and natural areas. They range from soccer fields to virgin natural areas with foot trails and rugged bike paths. The city also has a vibrant night life and music scene that has launched the careers of legends like George Strait and Stevie Ray Vaughn.
Come enjoy San Marcos. We'd love your company!
