How much does the FOCUS program cost?

The FOCUS program offers many perks, such as provided books and materials. However, the FOCUS program does not pay for tuition and fees. To find the cost of a course, contact the appropriate department at your school.

How do I register for a FOCUS course?

The FOCUS program has an application process for each course offered per semester. Accepted students will be sent the course index number when registration opens. FOCUS students register as usual using the given FOCUS index number.

Why do I have to take tests before my course begins?

FOCUS is a grant funded program and thus, must show evidence of the program’s effect on students. Pre- and post-testing allows us to view the change in your content knowledge.

I already passed/took the THEA. Why do I have to take it again?

FOCUS is a grant funded program and thus, must show evidence of the program’s effect on students. By taking the THEA right before the course, the FOCUS program gets an accurate view of your content knowledge right before to the program.

Why do I have to take all 3 sections (reading, writing, and mathematics) of the THEA?

The FOCUS course you are enrolled in might be concentrated on one of those subjects, but we try to infuse our program with study strategies and process standards. We want to evaluate if the course had an impact on all subjects.

How many hours is each of the FOCUS Courses offering?

Contact the CCA-FOCUS representative at your school for a list of courses and hours.
