Q: Where can I find the paper form used in the application process?
A: You can find the form on the Graduate College web site, www.gradcollege.txstate.edu.
Q: I sent official transcripts to the Mathematics Department. Do I need to pay for another set?
A: No. If you sent official transcripts here, they will be automatically sent to the Graduate College.
Q: How do I know if my transcripts were official?
A: Official transcripts generally come in a sealed envelope with a signature or stamp across the seal. If you opened the envelope, the transcripts are no longer official.
Q: I received a Master's degree from Texas State. Do I need to resubmit all of my undergraduate transcripts and test scores?
A: It depends. Please contact the Graduate College directly to find out which parts of your application are available on file and which will need to be resent.
Q: I received an offer of a position. Does it come with a benefits package?
A: We sent this question to the benefits office and here is their helpful reply. Note that the standard TA/GIA/Lecturer position is half-time (50%FTE) for 9 months.
"For Grad TA, IA and RA's - must be appointed 50% FTE for at least 4.5 months per fiscal year to qualify for employee insurance benefits. For all the positions, the best general place to highlight is our Texas State HR benefits page and then there are links under each topic. For example, there is a Summary of Benefits for faculty. There are also more details under the Retirement Programs section. http://www.humanresources.txstate.edu/benefits.htm This link takes you to more specific information about the insurance programs for all employees. http://www.ers.state.tx.us/Insurance/ Also, please feel free to reference our office if any of your candidates would like additional information or have questions about our benefits package. Details are on the bottom of the Summary of Benefits on how to contact us."
Q: If I receive a position (TA/GIA/Lecturer), will tuition be waived?
A: Unfortunately, we are not able to waive tuition at this time. We are able to offer in-state tuition to anyone who receives a TA/GIA/Lecturer position in the department. Additional scholarship funds are available through the Graduate College and the College of Science and we strongly encourage our students to apply for those funds.
Q: How much should I expect to pay for tuition?
A: The following links will take you to University web pages that contain detailed tuition information. Please note that students who receive support in the form of a TA/GIA/Lecturer position are eligible for in-state tuition. http://www.sbs.txstate.edu/billing.html and http://www.gradcollege.txstate.edu/Prospect_Students/Fin_Grad_Ed.html
