Tenure-track Position in Mathematics
Position: Assistant/Associate Professor, tenure track.
Appointment Date: September 1, 2010.
Review Date: To ensure full consideration all materials should be received by the beginning review date of January 22, 2010. Review will continue until the position is filled.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
Qualifications:
The following qualifications are REQUIRED of the candidate:
1. A doctorate in Applied Mathematics or Statistics.
2. An established publication record in high-quality, internationally renowned journals; or a clearly demonstrated program that suggests that high-quality publications are imminent (this may be established by submissions, preprints, or strong recommendation letters from an adviser, etc.).
3. Strong preparation in Mathematics
The following qualifications are PREFERRED of the candidate:
1. Research interests in the applications of such fields as Differential Equations, Operations Research, Optimization or Statistics.
2. Teaching experience at the college level.
3. Experience directing theses and advising graduate students.
4. Proficiency in spoken and written English.
5. A record of applying for and obtaining external funding.
6. Potential to participate in inter-disciplinary research.
Position Description:
Faculty are expected to establish a strong commitment to high-quality research in Applied Mathematics. Faculty must also be dedicated to the teaching and mentoring of students at the graduate and undergraduate levels and must be willing to participate in the development of new courses in Applied Mathematics. Additionally, faculty must be actively engaged in service to the department, college, university and mathematical community; and must show a dedication to writing and applying for external grants and funding.

(e) a description of previous research efforts and a detailed plan of future mathematical research;

(g) three or more letters of recommendation, with at least one addressing teaching experience in some depth and proficiency in spoken and written English.
The letters of recommendation must come directly from the person making the recommendation and it is the responsibility of the candidate to ensure that these letters are sent by the deadline.
